Making money blogging

April 23rd, 2011 · No Comments

Wow, I would love to make money blogging and I have been wondering if and how I could do so.

I have a talent applying myself doing things that I love but I have a real challenge and struggle turning anything that I do into money. This is why I started the Million Dollar Housewife blog. She represents who I aspire to be. She is my imaginary, blossomed, flourished self that I know I can become if I just keep stretching myself enough to become just like her. She has all the time in the world to attend all the small daily things that make up our life’s and yet she is financially independent and wealthy.

I was just doing some research online to find out if and how I could make money blogging. I can see that it is possible but like anything, it is not as easy as it appears to be.

I came across a website called Income Diary showing the top earning blogs online. It was interesting to have a look at the different websites to find out what kind of blogs people like to read. None of them caught my attention the way Dooce.com did.  It is a very simple and clean looking blog, aesthetic and with a touch of being more personal which I love. I  love that the author, Heather B. Armstrong, can stay at home and is successful doing something that she loves, that seems natural to her. She also does beautiful photography on a daily basis that she posts on her blog. I find her to be very inspiring. And I always love to find inspiring people!

Even though I tend to feel defeated when I first encounter such successful people because their success seem so far out of reach, I find that thinking and feeling that way is just a hopeless way to live and I know that I don’t want to live that way. So my other choice is to turn things around and focus on what I do love in the people that inspire me and let that which I love be a real source of inspiration for me.

And I also think that no matter the outcome, the second choice is always the best one in the long run!

I also came across another website as I was researching information about health and nutrition which is something I thoroughly enjoy. The blog is called candida-cure-recipes.com. It is very simple, nothing too complicated but it has a clear focus. Susan, owner of this blog, shares all of her knowledge about a diet cure for candida and you can see that she is doing it with a lot of care and attention. She has solid knowledge that is based on her own personal healing journey. She seems consistent and  committed to sharing her wealth of information with us. And she is now able to make her mortgage payment from her blog. How cool is that? Soooo inspiring!!!

If you are going to spent a lot of time sharing all of your tips and tricks and your wealth of information, it is great to find a way to be rewarded for that.

These two bloggers have both found a way to do just that. The first one being very successful and the second one earning a more modest income but none the less, they are both to me extremely inspiring.

From the little bit of research I have done so far on making money blogging, I seem to have notice that there are many ways to make money but there are a few ways that seem to be most successful or popular amongst all bloggers and that is to make money from adds on your site or from advertising banners. Both have their advantages and disadvantages and you need to understand each of them well to know which one is best suited for your blog but either way, what I know so far is that you do need to have a lot of traffic to make it even worthwhile. So getting followers and connecting with your audience is a crucial part of it.

What really appeals to me in both these case is that they are not trying to sell you anything but instead making it the focus to connect with their audience by either sharing their wealth of information or their own talent and skill in their own unique and personal style in a way that appeals to the general public.

I am personally in no rush to earn an income from my blog, or at least I don’t want to rush the process but I do want to make certain to keep applying myself as best as I can and I believe that with patience, perseverance and time, it is possible for me to turn my blog into a profitable business!
